Pastor Wade Rogers works in the church and in the community!
We would like to introduce you to Brother Wade Rogers and his family. He counts his wife, LaDonna, as a vital partner in his ministry and tells us she has a tender heart for children. They have been married for over 27 years and have three children, two of whom are very familiar to many at First Baptist. Marissa is their oldest. She has her teaching degree, but is a stay at home mom at this time. She is married to a police officer and they have a son, Conner and a baby due anytime now, then Matthew who has begun a career with the Texas Legends, a farm team for the NBA, and Meagan who attends SBU in Bolivar and has recently become engaged to Chad Castor, Aurora First Baptist Youth Director. Their plans are to go on to a career serving the Lord. Wade and LaDonna make their home just outside of Clever. They conduct marriage retreat ministry from their home.
Wade accepted Christ at the age of nine, answered God's call to preach at 17, and was pastoring a church by 22. He was ordained at the age of 23 in his first church in Tampa, Florida, where they stayed for over 6 years, then they were called to First Baptist Church, Doniphan, Missouri. They stayed in Doniphan for 13 years where they averaged 15 baptisms per year, took mission trips locally, nationally, and internationally, and helped build a local Shelter and Child Advocacy Center. The Church went through three major building programs while the family was there. After leaving Doniphan, Wade worked briefly in construction, then went on to serve the Lord through the local Hospice. Currently he is with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Highlandville, MO.
In March of 2010, God led Wade and LaDonna to start a marriage retreat ministry out of their home near Clever. Passion Ministries was born from a desire to help couples renew their marriages and their walk with Christ. These retreats start on a Friday night and end early on Sunday morning allowing everyone to attend church. The weekend is built around a study of God's creation of the first marriage in Genesis and was written by Wade and LaDonna. This ministry is supported by churches and individuals and is offered at no cost to the couples.
When not doing church work or a retreat, the Rogers love to spend time with their family including their new grandson Conner. Wade enjoys most all outdoor activities like bow hunting and fishing. LaDonna is more into anything to do with her home and family gatherings. Together they enjoy boating, travel, eating out and walks through the country.
Brother Wade began his service at First Baptist Church full time on December 19, 2010. He continues to minister to our church members, and the community.
